Ruth got us all together to make gingerbread houses this year. No, I don't mean the ones out of graham crackers that I always made with my kids when they were little. I mean the genuine, big, gingerbread houses out of real gingerbread and stained-glass (candy) windows. It took the whole day (plus Ruth's preparation day) and we had a great time.

Some of our greatest blessings
My grandkids are the best! My wonderful daughters and daughter-in-laws got them all together in matching outfits and took pictures of them for my birthday. They gave them to me on a magnet board that said "Some of our greatest blessings". I want to post the pictures, but some of them don't want their kid's pictures on the web, so I guess I'll respect their wishes (unless I decide to go private). But take my word for it, they're adorable.

Nuttiness
I've decided to rename my blog for the time being to Nancy's Nuttiness. There are a lot of things I'm nuts about...my husband, my kids, my 5 sisters, having a clean house, eating nuts (any kind, but be careful about giving my a bag of pistachios or almonds...they'll be gone instantly), and lots more that I'll probably talk about in future days.
My first nuttiness, as I mentioned is my husband. Here's a picture of us in the olden days. I was a bridesmaid at the wedding of one of my best friends. Terry and I were engaged at the time.Another nuttiness is school. At my age I decided to go back to school. My two teachers this semester called me by name the second session of class. I decided it's because I'm old and have an old style name. The teachers and half the kids in class could be my kids. What's really nutty about this is that I like to work ahead. When I was in school before, I was a procrastinator. That's right...stayed up the night before it was due to get an assignment done. Now I like to have things ready at least a week ahead. It bugs me if I don't. Only 9 more months (hopefully) and I'll be finished with my masters. Then no more school for me.

Our Family 2008

Here's the most recent picture of our family. Everyone was at our house for a birthday bash and I said, "everybody outside for a picture". No one had time to refuse, and here it is. I think it looks quite good for a non-professional, non-matching outfit picture. I don't think Jack is trying to pick his nose, but for some reason it looks that way. I think this family is the greatest! We're posed in our side yard by our back fence.
Entering the Blog World
I decided to start a blog, so I mentioned it to my hubby, Terry. He said he already had one...he started it over a year ago. I think I got him interested to start updating it again. I debated on accepting his invitation to help him with his, and finally decided to start my own. We both kind of get into stuff like this so we'll probably both enjoy doing our own. His is listed as "Terry and Nancy's Family". For now, I'm calling mine "The Smith Family". Thanks to my daughters and daughter in law for introducing me to the blog world and keeping me updated on my grandkids that way.
